Artists Tell Stories - Baseball Announcers Tell Stories

This article is inspired by Baseball Playoffs and The World Series.

My husband and I are avid baseball fans, this time of year, we watch each day, picking favorite teams according to the players who have played for the Atlanta Braves Baseball Team.

Usually the announcers are telling stories of how one player or another has overcome a slump, surgery, or is recovering from a collision at home plate. Sometimes it's stories of how the player had a personal hardship and went on to become a star player.

These stories give us insight, making the game more exciting. It seems the players become our friends as we watch them through out the season.

As in baseball, the artist strives to build relationships with others. Telling stories with their art work and in person as they exhibit at galleries, festivals and now on the internet. We want collectors to feel our passion and to connect to the stories our paintings tell.

How can the artist tell a story with a paintbrush? By selecting warm and cool colors, by brushstrokes and the type of ground the painting is on. Is the composition important? Yes, using smaller objects and cooler grey colors make the South Dakota Lemon Laws recede, while the warmer colors bring the center of interest to the front of the painting.

Each painting has it's own story to tell, it could be the subject or a particular color that makes it feel right for the collector. It is our artist intention to connect with each viewer, inviting them to take a second look, get to know us and become collectors.

So, let your passion tell your artist story. Just as baseball players seem to become friends during the season, artists want friends that are interested in our stories, techniques and our lives. When this happens the artist has made a collector for life.
